Will a hd tuner make your hd ready tv make everything you watch and play on your tv hd?
I have a samsung, white 19 inch lcd hd ready tv with a resolution a little better then 720p and I was wondering if a hd tuner that is usually built in to a tv work just as good perhaps better if i bought an external tuner at best buy. One other question since this tv is hd ready will I need to buy some expensive cord to make a ps3 or xbox 360 look hd because my ps2 looks worse on my hd tv then it looked on my flat screen tv in the living room.

An HD tuner will pick up the HD channels that are broadcast over the air in your area. Some places have 3 or 4 HD channels available and some have almost 20. An external tuner should do just as well as a tuner built in. You also would need an HD antenna that costs anywhere from $20 to $80.
To hook up your PS3 you need HDMI cables to get the best picture quality. Go to http://www.monoprice.com for some great prices on cables. Less than 1/2 of Best Buy prices!

To answer your question, the HD ready TV with your external HD tuner will display HD programming you receive in HD but it will NOT make signals you receive that are NOT HD into HD. The short answer is NO. As for your part of the question regarding PS3 or x box. I can’t address that at all, I don’t know.
If you are using a HD sat. receiver or HD cable box, then they can serve as a tuner for you, no need for external tuner.
